Residential Federal Incentives
Residential Renewable Energy Tax Credit - 30% Federal Tax Credit on Residential Grid-Tied Systems.  No maximum, excess credit may be carried forward to succeeding tax year.
 
Business Federal Incentives
Business Energy Investment Tax Credit (ITC) -The credit is equal to 30% of expenditures, with no maximum credit. Eligible solar energy property includes equipment that uses solar energy to generate electricity
 
Renewable Energy Grant for Businesses - Allows taxpayers eligible for the federal business energy investment tax credit (ITC) to take this credit or to receive a grant from the U.S. Treasury Department instead of taking the business ITC for new installations.  For solar, the grant is equal to 30% of the basis of the property for solar energy.
 
5-Year Accelerated Depreciation for Businesses -  A 5-year accelerated drepreciation scedule is set for grid tied Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems.
 
Washington State Incentives and Forms
 
Washington Renewable Energy Production Incentives For typical solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems, Washington State offers between 15 to 54 cents for every kilowatt hour (kWh) produced by the installed PV system.  The incentive rates are 15 cents per (kWh) for non Made in Washington PV systems and up to 54 cents per kWh with a Made in Washington solar panels and inverter system.  To track incentive production, a production meter is typically installed for all PV systems installed in Washington State.  The rebate is limited to $5,000 per year.  After an approved electrical inspection, you need to certify your PV system with the State of Washington Department of Revenue (DOR) by filling out and sending in the Renewable Energy Annual Incentive Payment Application to the DOR.  
 
Annual State Incentive Application Form - Expires June 30, 2020. Due by August 1st of every year to your local utility company.
 
75% off State Sales Tax - Expires June 30, 2013. - Pay all state sales tax upfront and file for a 75% reimbursement from the State Deartment of Revenue.
